LETTER OF INVITATION
Sydney, Australia 16/05/03
Dear Professors
and Colleagues,
To follow the
tradition of successful Vietnamese International Health
Conventions organised over many years,
and also to highlight the growing strength of health
professionals of Vietnamese origin all over the world,
the Vietnamese
Health Professionals Association in Australia and Sydney invite
you to attend the 5th International Convention of
Vietnamese Physicians, Dentists and Pharmacists in Sydney.
The aim of the
International Convention is to create opportunities for
colleagues in the health professionals family to
meet each
other,
renew old friendships,
strengthen bonds among individuals and families,
and discuss topics relevant to the Convention's main theme.
There will be
a good prospect for young and senior colleagues to sit
together and exchange knowledge.
Also, there will be opportunities for all of us to listen to
various opinions and discuss controversial issues, so that
ultimately, we can accept each other as free persons, and
live under the same roof of the health professionals family.
The main theme of
this Convention is 'To Revisit Our Cultural Heritage.' That is
to
reflect on
our Vietnamese origin,
and help to rebuild a prosperous motherland, with democracy
and freedom.
We need to
remind ourselves and our younger generations about our
origin. In any position or at any age, we still are of
Vietnamese origin.
We must
promote not only our professional advances, but also our
culture while taking pride of our Vietnamese ethnic
background.
While in
Australia to attend this 5th International Convention, you can
have an opportunity to see Sydney, one of the most beautiful
cities in the world.
You can view
its coves, reefs, beaches with uninterrupted white sand and
blue sea.
You can visit the
Opera House, climb or walk across the
Harbour Bridge.
You can also taste the gourmet dishes of many countries in
the world, and the traditional Vietnamese cuisine prepared
by members of the Sydney’s Vietnamese community.
If you love
bushwalking, you can walk the short tracks in the Blue
Mountains heritage area close to Sydney – the
Three Sisters, the Blackheath Canyon. Being adventurous,
you may walk the world famous Cradle Mountain Overland Track
in Tasmania.
An hour’s
flight away is Melbourne, the centre of the arts and sports
in Australia. Only a short drive away is the beauty of the
Great Ocean Road drive which winds along kilometres of
scenic coastline past giant sandstone sea stacks – 'the
Twelve Apostles'. Drive inland and visit the famous
walking tracks of the Grampian Ranges and the world famous
wineries of Victoria and South Australia - the home of
Grange Hermitage.
You further
have the chance to
visit
world renowned sites in Australia,
view the ten kilometres of white sandy beaches of the
Gold Coast,
experience the poetic beauty of Byron Bay,
and admire the Great Barrier Reef (one of the seven
natural wonders of the world) with over one thousand
kilometres of coral, multicoloured fish and sea life.
Our meeting place
is the state-of-the-art Convention Centre, a waterfront building
overlooking Darling Harbour.
It is just
minutes to the restaurants of Chinatown, the Chinese
Gardens, and Star City Casino.
Hop on a boat to cruise Sydney Harbour and tour the Opera
House.
We finally want
to remind you of our reputation for friendly hospitality.
Most overseas
colleagues, known or yet to be known to us, are greeted and
treated as close friends and VIPs.
This can be vouched for by colleagues who have visited
Sydney in the past.
Welcome to the 5th
International Convention! Welcome to Australia!
Sincerely Yours,
The Organising Board
